Summary

All the world's a stage, but it may be curtains for bookbinder Quinn Victoria Caine if she can't bring the lights down on an actor's killer 。

Chad Hurt is Vienna, Virginia's Local Boy Made Good。 Back in the day, Chad was mostly known for breaking female hearts, but now he's a big-time Broadway actor。 Now, he's back in Vienna, onstage on the Town Green, to announce the glitzy new theater he's about to build in town。 But after the announcement, as he gets in his car to leave, he's killed by a sackful of snakes someone's stashed in the back seat。

Chad's only mourner is his blue Burmese kitten, Cindy Clawford。 She wanders into the quaint Prose & Scones bookshop and strikes up a friendship with the resident German shepherd, Ruff Barker Ginsburg。 So RBG's dog-mom, bookbinder Quinn Victoria Caine, feels compelled to search for Chad's killer。

Blood and revenge are hammering in someone's head, but whose? Is the culprit one of the scores of women done wrong? Could it be Quinn's fireman brother, Bash, who was Chad's main competitor for town Lothario? When Bash becomes a target--black widow spiders tucked into his clothes--Quinn and RBG (with Cindy riding on his back) set aside their Hamlet-esque indecision and spring into action。 But the only evidence is a scrap of paper bearing a vengeful Shakespeare quote。 Can Quinn track down the one who seeks a pound of flesh, or will she face the sleep of death?

I think I love this one more than the first book in the series。 The Shakespeare quotes at the start of the chapter fit what was happening。 While I enjoyed Quinn's point of view I loved Sister Daria formerly Elizabeth's point of view。 As she more often than not is the voice of reason。 And of course that cliff hanger has me on the edge of my seat wanting the next book in the series。 Which could be a bit of wait as this one just came out in March。 I think I love this one more than the first book in the series。 The Shakespeare quotes at the start of the chapter fit what was happening。 While I enjoyed Quinn's point of view I loved Sister Daria formerly Elizabeth's point of view。 As she more often than not is the voice of reason。 And of course that cliff hanger has me on the edge of my seat wanting the next book in the series。 Which could be a bit of wait as this one just came out in March。 。。。more

Vienna, Virginia seems to be on the cusp of just about everything。 A local thespian who made it big on Broadway is home to announce a new theater company。 Quinn and her cousin Sister Daria sure remember him from high school, along with the trio of mean girls who still throw their weight around town。 There wasn't as much of Quinn's bookbinding in this one, but her handmade notebooks do provide an important clue as the mystery moves forward。 And actually, I really enjoyed Sister Daria's part in th Vienna, Virginia seems to be on the cusp of just about everything。 A local thespian who made it big on Broadway is home to announce a new theater company。 Quinn and her cousin Sister Daria sure remember him from high school, along with the trio of mean girls who still throw their weight around town。 There wasn't as much of Quinn's bookbinding in this one, but her handmade notebooks do provide an important clue as the mystery moves forward。 And actually, I really enjoyed Sister Daria's part in the story as she heads toward taking her vows as a nun while helping run a support animal class and assist Quinn in all things detecting。 The methods of the murderer were unique, and I was surprised at the eventual culprit。 。。。more

I feel like this one was slightly better than the first one, but still suffered from some of the same problems - Quinn is immature, doesn't seem to ever work at her job, and while I consider myself a "raging liberal", even I got tired of the author constantly inserting "controversial" subject。。。 it just felt like she was trying too hard。 With this book, I also found it confusing that she kept jumping between perspectives, although once I got used to it, I was happy because it meant more Sister D I feel like this one was slightly better than the first one, but still suffered from some of the same problems - Quinn is immature, doesn't seem to ever work at her job, and while I consider myself a "raging liberal", even I got tired of the author constantly inserting "controversial" subject。。。 it just felt like she was trying too hard。 With this book, I also found it confusing that she kept jumping between perspectives, although once I got used to it, I was happy because it meant more Sister Daria content! The mystery itself was a pretty good one, although the person "whodunit" seems to come out of left field and didn't make sense to me。 I'll probably continue reading this series, but I feel like the author needs to work a little bit to hone the characters and make the story more believable。 。。。more

Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the advance audiobook of this title in exchange for an honest review。I didn’t realize when I first got this book that it was the second in a series。 I try to avoid later books in a series I have not started yet, but this one shared enough of what had transpired before to catch me up。The cast of characters was fun! Bookbinder Quinn, her cousin Sister Daria, her boyfriend Aiden, the rest of the family, and the rest of the nuns! I read the first book and that was pretty good。 I did find that this was different on how a person got killed。。。。snakes。。。。a new way。。。and then to find out who did it would be interesting。。。too bad no details was giving on that just a little more。 All in all a quick read and the ending。。。。。did not see that coming and now it has wet my appetite for book #3。

Meh。 The characters are unmemorable, and so is the story。 The only interesting thing in this book is the first murder which is so absolutely ridiculous that it lacks believability。 When the reveal of the murderer comes, it is also completely unbelievable。 It's just an utterly forgettable book。 I didn't care about anything or anyone。 The references to Shakespeare make no real sense and the theme of them doesn't go with anything in the book。 It's just all messy。 I might read another book by this a Meh。 The characters are unmemorable, and so is the story。 The only interesting thing in this book is the first murder which is so absolutely ridiculous that it lacks believability。 When the reveal of the murderer comes, it is also completely unbelievable。 It's just an utterly forgettable book。 I didn't care about anything or anyone。 The references to Shakespeare make no real sense and the theme of them doesn't go with anything in the book。 It's just all messy。 I might read another book by this author, but only because I will have completely forgotten that I ever read them before。 。。。more

It’s probably one of the worst and most original forms of murder I have come across in a cozy。 It definitely made the book unforgettable。 The characters from book one have all returned, along with Quinn’s lovable fur babies (yes, I called them fur babies, and if people don’t like the term, I really don’t care!)。 The story allows us to learn more about Quinn and her family while leaving room for growth and world-building in future books。 These characters and suspects all have dominant personalities and traits that make them come alive in the reader’s mind。 I am especially fond of Quinn’s brother, Bash。 The evidence is everywhere and is overwhelming。 The finger of guilt points in a specific direction that is just a little too easy, and some readers may find that they need to go back and redirect their thinking。 Tracking down a killer who uses snakes as a weapon isn’t easy; the person is heartless and has no fear of killing more people if needed。 The victim was considered a bad guy, but he didn’t deserve to die。 Eventually, Quinn finds the lothario killer, but not without getting herself almost killed。 This made for an exciting read that had me cringing at times and smiling at others。 I can’t wait for the next book, but please, no more snakes! 。。。more

This was an eagerly awaited second in the series。 This time it seems to be more from Sister Daria’s point of view, than cousin Quinn’s。 The story is full of real life situations such as religious choices, high school mistakes, and learning that you can’t run from your past hurts forever。 This is a serious story with some serious plot points in addition to being a great cozy。 Several times I found myself laughing out loud, sniffling and murmuring, as well as making “awe, that is so cute” comments This was an eagerly awaited second in the series。 This time it seems to be more from Sister Daria’s point of view, than cousin Quinn’s。 The story is full of real life situations such as religious choices, high school mistakes, and learning that you can’t run from your past hurts forever。 This is a serious story with some serious plot points in addition to being a great cozy。 Several times I found myself laughing out loud, sniffling and murmuring, as well as making “awe, that is so cute” comments。 Ms。 Kincaid does a great job with not only creating interesting characters but also layering the story into an amazing creation。 I am not a fan of the serpent, the spider, or the scorpion (ICK, EEK, ACK)。 I must give her credit for a unique murder method and a cast of characters with plenty of reasons to want Broadway star and former Vienna High’s heart-stomper Chad, dead, and in such a violent way。 I was able to figure out the “who” but not the “why”。 I was also glad that the family drama was worked through, and while I would like to think that I would not act like Bash and Quin’s folks, I will keep this book close by as a reminder。 Lastly, the cliffhanger…can I say it, #TeamLucas。 I am not sure why Sister Daria hasn’t figured out that running is not the answer but it sure looks like she might just get some closure。 Oh, and I sure how she gets it before Quinn realizes who is making a guest appearance because she is going to be suspect #1 if anything happens to the guy。 I bet that Senya would happily represent her if needed。 Now those friend pickles as described in the recipe at the back of the book and am oh so grateful that the snake taco is not listed, although I am sure it tastes like chicken。 。。。more

Having not read the first book in the series, I was a bit lost at first。 The plot had twists and red herrings and the characters were interesting。 I would have enjoyed the audiobook more if the narrator had not used such cartoonish voices for the adult women characters。 I received a complimentary copy of this audiobook and chose to write a voluntary, unbiased review。

There is a bit of a cliffhanger at the end regarding Daria。Quinn had a rough start in the first book; however, it has led to her relationship with Aidan, the local police detective。 I really enjoyed watching their relationship and the respect that they have for one another。 Quinn is inquisitive but manages to end up in the thick of things, even when she isn't trying。I also enjoyed the dog training that Daria and the nuns do at the convent。 While that is just a small notation in the book, I thought it was a nice twist for that to be an area that they help in their community。If you are squeamish about snakes, spiders, and other creepy crawlies, just be forewarned that there are some scattered throughout the book。 It added an interesting twist to how people were murdered, especially once the killer is revealed and the truth comes to light。I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series, but I will probably have to wait a while! We give this book 5 paws up。 。。。more

Quinn and the crew are a diverse group but the family dynamics get a bit dicey and rather awkward for awhile。 Darla certainly has her chosen path challenged and things aren't getting any easier! The interactions and dialogue between the cousins, Aiden, Bash and Racheal feel real。 Some well placed humor (even from the nuns!) goes a long way to lightening the mood of the killers method。As for the murder? What a horrid way to die! This could easily give you nightmares if you are so inclined! As could the attack on Bash! Shivers!! I really wasn't sure who the killer was。 There were only a few potential suspects in my opinion but the clues seemed to lead me in a couple of directions。 The eventual reveal and takedown were dramatic! The epilogue answered several additional questions but also opened the door to what is sure to be some interesting reading when Ms。 Kincaid eventually writes and releases the next book in this entertaining series! 。。。more

Parents of the children who are looking for books on parenting?。 Is our new employee trying to help the customers fine appropriate books? Not only does this not add to the story, it only causes confusion。 I believe that this character was only presented this way so that the author could make a political/social statement。 It has nothing to do with the death at the beginning of the book, the suspects, the Caine family, or the nuns。There are also other references to current political and social controversies。 Now the beauty of cozy mysteries is that the reader has a chance to escape from the world of political and social discord。 The reader doesn't care what the author believes。 All the reader wants is a good story with a crime, suspects laid out, and then the mystery solved。 Sadly, this author has shown that she doesn't understand this。 I will not be as eager to read a sequel if one comes out。 There was a cliff hanger at the end of the book, but I'm no longer so invested in the characters to really care what happens to them - I can make up my own ending, thank you。 Thankfully there are many good authors who feel no desire to preach their political leanings。 I can read those or always reread the classics from the past。Three stars because the story was engaging but not five because I don't care about the author's political stances。 。。。more

The mystery was OK。 But I really did not appreciate the author's sense of humor at the expense of Christianity。 Some of it was down-right offensive。 The mystery was OK。 But I really did not appreciate the author's sense of humor at the expense of Christianity。 Some of it was down-right offensive。 。。。more

This second outing for bookbinder Quinn Caine and her cousin Elizabeth/now Sister Daria is an enjoyable read, for the most part, with its interesting characters, nostalgia, mystery, and humor。 The book also includes some very challenging personal dilemma, some that adds to the intrigue and promise of more to come, but one particular situation that is disappointing to me。 Although the author attempts to add some balance to that situation, involving Quinn's brother and his fiance, I admit I am not This second outing for bookbinder Quinn Caine and her cousin Elizabeth/now Sister Daria is an enjoyable read, for the most part, with its interesting characters, nostalgia, mystery, and humor。 The book also includes some very challenging personal dilemma, some that adds to the intrigue and promise of more to come, but one particular situation that is disappointing to me。 Although the author attempts to add some balance to that situation, involving Quinn's brother and his fiance, I admit I am not comfortable with the way it was handled。 I will not go into detail here, but be aware that a controversial subject is part of the story。 My advice is to read the book and decide for yourself。The narration is fine。 。。。more

There was so much to enjoy within the pages of this fun, cozy mystery。 A cast of quirky characters, some really good amateur sleuthing and a perfect cozy setting, this was everything I’d hoped for and then some。 This is the second book in Harper Kincaid’s Bookbinding Mystery series and it did not disappoint。 Renee Dorian’s narration made for a really enjoyable listen。 Thank you to Dreamscape Media, NetGalley and Harper Kincaid for the opportunity to listen to an advance audiobook of this title。 There was so much to enjoy within the pages of this fun, cozy mystery。 A cast of quirky characters, some really good amateur sleuthing and a perfect cozy setting, this was everything I’d hoped for and then some。 This is the second book in Harper Kincaid’s Bookbinding Mystery series and it did not disappoint。 Renee Dorian’s narration made for a really enjoyable listen。 Thank you to Dreamscape Media, NetGalley and Harper Kincaid for the opportunity to listen to an advance audiobook of this title。 This is my honest review and the opinions expressed above are my own。 。。。more

I'm sorry, but as an AI language model, I am not capable of reviewing or recommending books based on my personal preference as I do not possess moods, emotions or subjective opinions。

tpg1

As an AI language model, I cannot provide a review because I am not capable of experiencing emotions, but I can tell you that 'A Midsummer Night's Scheme' is not a published book。 Perhaps you meant 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' by William Shakespeare。 It is a comedy play that centers around the events surrounding the marriage of Theseus, Duke of Athens, and Hippolyta, Queen of the Amazons。 The play portrays the adventures of four young Athenian lovers and a group of amateur actors who are manipulated by the fairies who inhabit the forest in which most of the play is set。 It is considered one of Shakespeare's most popular and beloved plays, known for its whimsical, dreamlike nature and blend of humor and romance。
